The famous 90s NBC sitcom, "Friends," is inarguably one of the best TV series of all time. Stars like Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer, etc. embarked on a journey to stardom with the show. The award-winning sitcom lasted ten seasons, making it one of the longest-running US primetime drama series in the history of television entertainment. "Friends" had a significant cultural impact on the people of the west. Every fan of the show remembers how the show's characters have taught different aspects of life! Come and explore these 12 little-known "Friends" facts you probably didn't know before!
1.The Show's Leading Cast Got Paid Equally
The "Friends" cast proved that they were friends behind the scenes as well! The show's lead cast, David Schwimmer, Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and Matthew Perry negotiated salary as a team and received equal pay. They believed that the unity among them would help them get better payment, and they were right. By Season 10, each of the six leading actors was making more than $1 million an episode! David Schwimmer and Jennifer Aniston, the show's most famous couple, had to lose some money at the beginning so the less popular "Friends" lead cast could get a raise.
2.Matt LeBlanc Only Had $11 Left When He Landed "Joey Tribbiani" Role
Matt LeBlanc was financially struggling at the time when he was offered a role in "Friends." He was an aspiring actor back then. He appeared in some 90s short-lived and commercially unsuccessful TV series like TV 101, Monsters, and Vinnie & Bobby, etc. He got the role in "Friends" just when he thought about giving up on acting. "'Friends,' when it came my way, was my fourth TV series - and the other three had failed. I had exactly $11 in my pocket the day I was hired." Independent.co.uk quoted Matt LeBlanc as saying.
3.The Lead Cast Had Sex With Each Other
The team worked together for ten long years, so it wasn't really a surprise that the leading cast of "Friends" would be a lot more than just being buddies! The interesting part of the story is that the team itself had confirmed that they had sex with each other. "Friends" cast reunited in 2016 to pay tribute to James Burrows, one of the finest television directors in the United States. Andy Cohen, who hosted the show, asked "Friends" lead cast if they ever signed a contract that wouldn't let them sleep with each other. The gang of five (Matthew Perry missed the event) had looked at each other embarrassingly before Lisa Kudrow asked David Schwimmer to say something about it. Schwimmer then laughed and said, "Well, that was broken!" No further details were revealed.
