4.Barbara Was Pregnant With A Boy During The First Season

Barbara Eden is one of the prettiest actresses of yesteryears. Many of us couldn't imagine anyone playing Jeannie's role other than her. During the first season of "I Dream of Jeannie," Barbara Eden was pregnant with her son, Matthew Ansara. The show's crew struggled a lot to hide her baby bump. They made her wear all sorts of weird dresses with veils to cover up the big belly. Barbara gave birth to Ansara on August 29, 1965. He grew up to become an actor and professional bodybuilder. Sadly, Mathew Ansara died in 2001 at the age of 35 due to a heroin overdose.

5.Larry Hagman Troubled The Producers With His Alcohol And Drug Addiction

While giving an interview, Barbara Eden revealed a lot of interesting and lesser-known facts about Larry Hagman. Hagman, who played one of the show's two leading roles, Tony Nelson, was always upset with the way the show was written. He would often drink on the sets to protest his discontent. His alcohol addiction had become so unmanageable that the show's producers wanted to oust him at some point. Larry Hagman then took the drugs route to cure his alcoholism. He was addicted to LSD and pot. By the way, it was Jack Nicholson who introduced Larry Hagman to marijuana!

6.Conflicting Theories On Jeannie's Origin

According to the first season's plot, Jeannie was a human being who was turned into a genie by the Blue Djinn for refusing to marry him. The Blue Djinn role was played by none other than Barbara's then-husband, Michael Ansara. In the first season, several members of Jeannie's family were introduced. Though they all look a little weird, they aren't genies. In fact, Jeannie's mother describes her family as a bunch of peasants from an old Arab country. However, the show's storyline was changed in the third season. According to the updated plot, Jeannie is always a genie. Some of her family members are shown as Genies as well. The show's writers might have done this to increase the number of plotlines, and make "I Dream of Jeannie" more exciting.
